Italian child dies after decade-long E. coli battle

An Italian child who spent almost a decade in a coma after eating raw milk cheese has died.

Mattia Maestri died aged 13 after spending nine years in a coma having contracted an E. coli infection, which led to HUS from raw milk cheese in Trento in 2017.
